EDMONTON, AB – The Canadian Forces Snowbirds will fly high over Edmonton on Sunday, July 26th, to help kick off the 2009 Edmonton Indy.
Since their inception in 1971, the Snowbirds have become a popular attraction across North America, and a highly recognizable symbol of the Canadian Forces. Performing to millions of spectators at some of the world’s largest events, including the Olympic Games and Canada’s 125th Birthday Celebration, the Snowbirds continue to thrill audiences with their daring aerobatic formations.
“With Alex Tagliani and Paul Tracy already confirmed for this year’s race, we’re very excited to welcome another team of Canada’s fastest drivers to the Edmonton Indy,” said Ken Knowles, President of Northlands. “The Snowbirds never fail to amaze audiences wherever they go, and we know they’ll put on a great show for fans attending the Edmonton Indy.”
During performances, the Snowbirds can reach speeds of 600 kilometers per hour, while flying in formation only four feet apart.
Tickets for the 2009 Edmonton Indy, including both 3-day packages and Single Day tickets, are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at (780) 451-8000, or online at www.ticketmaster.ca.
