Community Relations
The Rexall Edmonton Indy wants to work with all of our neighbours to ensure that we have a long-term, positive relationship.
Regular contact and consultation with our nearby communities
on items that impact the neighbourhoods is our key commitment.
Last year, the Rexall Edmonton Indy worked with city departments
to give number one priority to traffic, parking, noise and
security and that that commitment to the issues remains
unchanged this year. Regular contact has been made with
community league executives and their community members
at numerous community meetings and gatherings. In June 2008
a newsletter was distributed to the 20,000 households in
the involved areas outlining details about the race and
the action the Rexall Edmonton Indy is taking to lessen its impact on
the communities.
The Rexall Edmonton Indy acknowledges that it is only
through neighbourhood support that this motorsport event
can operate.
Concerns
Noise
Let’s face it – race tracks are noisy! Some of the communities around the race will hear the noise. We understand that not everyone is a race fan but we are wholeheartedly committed to ensuring that we comply with all City bylaws and endeavour to make the race weekend enjoyable for everyone affected!
Parking Restrictions
There is very limited general paid parking available on around the event site. We encourage our patrons to use the ETS Park & Ride service.
There is absolutely no neighbourhood parking and restrictions will be in place. Parking Enforcement officers will be enforcing against vehicles illegally parked on residential streets and in business parking lots that are not offering event parking.
Illegally parked vehicles may be subject to towing. Bylaw officers will be enforcing against illegal sale of parking on privately owned property.

Security
The Rexall Edmonton Indy works with a number of City departments; most notably the City Police, Transit and Bylaw, to address security issues both on the track and within the community. The Edmonton Police Service is prepared for the increase in both pedestrian and vehicle traffic by dedicating officers to the site and the surrounding communities. The Rexall Edmonton Indy and the Edmonton Police Service are committed to ensuring a safe and secure environment for the community residents and spectators at the race.
50-50
The support of communities near the race track is essential to the success of the Rexall Edmonton Indy. We value the communities affected by the race, just as we value our employees, sponsors and volunteers. We encourage you to get involved and attend the Rexall Edmonton Indy.
Community leagues affected by the Rexall Edmonton Indy will have the opportunity to capitalize on the event. Tickets for the 50-50 draw will be sold race weekend at the track and will raise thousands of dollars to enact various community initiatives. Last year the 50-50 draw generated more than $30,000 to distribute among the leagues. Communities participating are:
- Central McDougall
- Lauderdale
- Prince Rupert
- Spruce Avenue
- Westwood
